SirHelm
Hi, I am about to buy a 30 Gallon tank plexi TruVu w/stand with everything (live rock, sand, shrimp, fish, fluval canister filter, lights etc...) it is a great deal. However when I went over to see it it had both the good (pink) algae and a bunch of green/brown algae on the front section.(he had been neglecting it... one of the reasons he is selling). How do your remove this on a plexi tank? Will snails remove this?? (he actually has about a 6 snails and they are not doing the job!!!). Is it possible to remove this? Or should I not buy this tank? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also if this has already been discussed please let me know and post the link Thanks again SH Link to comment
tonkadawg
There are several tools that are safe to use for acrylic tanks. www.marinedepot.com On my acrylic tanks, I use an old credit card. This is sort of a pita but it works. Just haven't gotten around to buying the 36" scraper. Link to comment
Raise
you could use a magfloat, they sell a special cover that supposdely makes them safe for acrylic. Link to comment
TiGs
I use a Mag Float made for acrylic for light cleaning. For a good scrub down I use a credit card or ID card. Whatever type of card used, make sure that there are no rough edges or it will scratch your acrylic. If there are rought edges just sand it down Link to comment
Raise
yesterday I had to clean Ron Rices 350g reef. I had to do a ######load of carlline scraping, used a nice square piece of acrylic with nice square edges, worked like a charm. Link to comment
