Do actinics provide any value to corals?

I take no offense, Robster. :)

I understand the point you are making, but we need a working example of what you are describing. Oxygen chemistry is a lot different than the photochemistry of cholorophyll and accessory pigments, know what I mean?

That seems to be one of my main frustrations that: I have not been able to locate research/testing showing how many LUX (amount of light reaching target point) at what primary NM's in UV-A UV-B Violet Blue Green Yellow etc... are with-in tollerance/beneficial vs. detrimental; like a certain amount of sun is nice and gives me a tan, but too much gives me an ungly burn and destroys a layer or two of skin. surely corals etc... can be come damaged via too much infliction of specific NM's, but what number is that?????!!!!

The oxygen example was the only thing I could come up with...I hadn't had my coffee yet ;)
