zizmans
I heard skimmers have to be continually redosed. what does that mean? Link to comment
coralreeferkim
Again, I don't know @#$% about nanos, I've been really fortunate with my reef. I'm assuming what you're referring to is the fact that skimmers not only remove "nastiness" out of your tank, they also remove trace elements (i.e. strontium) that your corals, as well as coralline algae need. You need to replace these trace elements with a suplement, such as Kent essential Elements or a similar product. I have a very simple set-up on my 55- live rock, aragonite, submerged pwerheads for water movement my only filtration is a Skilter 400. I do 10% water changes weekly and dose with kalkwasser as well as Kent essential elements right after the change. It's worked very well for me!!! Link to comment
