linty
I've got a half dozen mantis shrimp here in a jar. I'm pretty sure they are mantis shrimp anyways. Look like big ugly amphipods with weird front arms. None of them are bigger than 1.5 cm though. Why are they so bad again? Link to comment
Guest AbSoluTc
I WANT ONE!!!! or 2 How much? What color are they? Link to comment
linty
they are ugly clear/yellow/brown...same color as amphipods...they really just look a lot like overgrown amphipods...or a bit like earwigs. I'm pretty sure they arent isopods...I've never heard any sounds from them hitting things though. I guess that could mean they are spearers. I've got 7 here from 1 rock... If you really want them you can have them but I don't think you do Link to comment
vanillabox
are you sure they aren't amphipods? Link to comment
linty
is there a way to tell? I thought amphipods didn't get bigger than 1/4". They seem to have the weird folded mantis arms, but I could be wrong. Link to comment
lizbeth
I've got some pods that are bigger than 1/4". At least I think that's what they are. Link to comment
Kapelakin
The amphipods I got from IPSF were over 1/4", but not over 1/2". I'd be surprised if you got that many mantis in on your rock though. Hmm. Link to comment
linty
yeah... they do look a lot more like mantis shrimp than anything else I've read about though. And the place i got my rock from is run by idiots who couldn't care less...unfortunately there aren't any competitors arround so I don't have much choice. Link to comment

Dave ESPI
here is a novel idea, post a pic of them....... Link to comment
linty
I didn't post a pic because I am not asking for them to be identified. They are too small for me to get a useful picture of anyways...but they look like tiny versions of this http://www.blueboard.com/mantis/pics/mills.htm except their claws are curled up so I can't see the pointed parts.
