Argent
kinda looks like the lone polyp I have in my tank.... Link to comment
The Propagator
Sort of like yours Argent. But mine seem to be MUCH darker purple? I wanna say Tri-colored Valida EZ. I need a cose up for a proper ID. Its value is exactly what you paid for it because thats how much you were willing to pay to have it Its re-sale value will be exactly what some one else is willing to pay for it. Mini, if I told you I would have to kill you. Link to comment
bucknellreefer
nice! Do you get your corals from wholesalers? I finally got some new corals today and i stole a camera so i have pics too! I found a tiny browned out acro frag at the bottom of the tank and the guy tossed it in for free, i will be interested to see how it does. Link to comment
The Propagator
Nope. My best friend lives in the Keys and collects for a wholesaler but I do not buy from the wholesaler he collects for. I buy from him. Sounds tricky but its not realy. I mainly just LFS hop and look for the crapiest stuff in the tank. ESPECIALY ACROS. I looke for the most disgustingly browned out coral in the tank. Then buy it LOL!!! ( as long as its other wise healthy that is)I catch all my zoanthids on sale or miss marked LOL! Same for my LPS. You just have to knw where to go and what to look for. Link to comment

The Propagator
MUCH beter pic of the PHE ! I have come to the conclusion that these are indeed PHE. Alhough not from the originator of the name's colony they are identicle. I have three small colonies I am going to grow out. Then its game on !!! CHAAAAAAAA CHHHHHIIIIIINGGGGG I tell ya these last three weeks have yeilded some AWSOME finds. Link to comment
Argent
Yeah yours are waaay darker purple than mine is - hopefully it's not because I have too much light over my tank - or it's because I haven't been able to get a good picture - the price was right on mine though -- $1. I'm always trolling for single polyps at my LFS because he sells them to me for a buck! Link to comment
The Propagator
Sweet! After all they do grow fast. So why not buy one healthy polyp if you can. Yeah these guys are INSANELY purple even with the flash on ! I have a new favorite zoanthid!! LOL!!! What type of lighting do you have over your tank again Argent? Link to comment
Argent
This is my 5.5G with a 96w Quad 50/50 coralife fixture over it Link to comment
seahorsejl
Prop, you have to stop showing off all of these fantastic pictures of your corals! You are making me want a prop system more and more now just so I too can be a cool kid on the block with lots of fantastic looking corals Awesome stuff (as usual)! Link to comment
The Propagator
BWAHAHAHAHAaaaa !! THanks guys. I am just lucky is all. I will be growing the bejesus out of these guys. I plan on takin gone small 8-10 polyp frag and dividing it up into single polyps then grow each polyp into its own colony of at least 30-40 polyps. Argent thats too much light on them alright. Move it into a shadey spot and watch it color backup Link to comment
Argent
Ok - I'll see if I can find someplace lower and shady to put it - or perhaps I'll find myself a new light fixture that's not as bright as I'm sure the rest of my zoas would probably be happier under less light. Link to comment
The Propagator
Yup in that tank they would thats for sure Link to comment
Argent
Cool thanks TP! I've posted on the local reefing forum so hopefully I can find something -- or I can sell/trade my 96w and buy something less bright (what are we talking like 45-60w perhaps?) Link to comment
proraptor2
Here is a pic of my PHE's....PHE's are almost as bg as a paly btw if they are smaller than a paly they mosty likely arent PHE's... Link to comment
Argent
and the difference between PPE and PHE's is that PPE's have a green mouth? Link to comment
proraptor2
PPE's have a green mouth. The colors on the PPE arent as dark as PHE's. Also when PPE's are closed the have little white lines on the outer part of the polyp. Link to comment
The Propagator
and PPEs are protopalythoas and PHE's are zoanthids ! DOUGH !!!!!! Yeah Pro these are definately PHE. I can definately tell they are not matured yet. There are several small polyps the size of reg. zoanthids and then there are some about 3/4 the size of a paly. Link to comment
