fragging xenia question

I yanked some xenia from my tank and traded it for credit at my lfs. Question is, there is still some left on the rock, it is just a thin layer. will this regrow in time or will it die and mess with my water quality?

if your tank is relatively healthy, it should grow back - any chunk of xenia that gets anywhere in my tank regrows into a thick stalk. just give it some time, you'll see the minature polyps pumping away in no time.

I have had two occasions where I did not see any remnents left and a month later a single head appeared. From what I have seen and read the only way to kill/remove xenia is to take it out of the tank and completely scrub the rock or tank. Hope this helps.

I have had my xenia come back from practially nothing many times. Same with Kenya tree.
