Help. These black spots appeared on my fish about a month ago, in my 6mo old tank and do not seem to be getting any better. Is this caused by rubbing on the LR or some thing else?post-21549-1155870858_thumb.jpg

My Clarkii has it too as do most all clownfish varieties. The widely accepted theory is that it is caused by stings from coral/anemones and is harmless to the fish. Although, my Clarkii dosn't host anything and still has the spots lol.

Do you have any anemones at all in there? Any type that would try to sting it?

Other than that I would say its just a color morph.

EDIT: It "could" be an internal parasite.

Have you tried medicating?

I do have Galaxea and a torch coral in the tank, no anemones, but the spots appeared before the corals where added. I have not tried medicating. I guess they are ok then I just wanted to make sure they are healthy. My PH was around 7.0, I was able to raise back to around 8.2 recently hopefully this will also help. Thanks
