putting a 50000k aquabulb 150 watts over a 10 gal. tank.

i imagine the pendant is about 4-5 inches tall

will make an open top hood...and hope to get by without a fan...but not absolute...

how tall should my hood be?

or how many inches above the water should the bulb be?

going to keep clams/sps

The bulb should be 8-10" off of the water. Regarding your canopy, it's a matter of personal taste, as long as it facilitates your bulb being far enough off the water. Also, if it is an HQI bulb, you'll need UV protection. Good luck
