24 Watt 5640k and 60 watt 6500k metal halide lighting

I found this out on the net while searching for low wattage HID lighting.

 

24 watt 5640k version

Its a small metal halide lamp manufactured by a medical supply company. Its powered by 12volt dc (it comes in 60 and 24 watt). Unfortunately the lamp life is rated for like 1000 hours....not too cost effective but it would still be cool on a 5 gallon or a 2.5 gallon tank and the bulb actually provides a good kelvin rating. I'm sure that since its a very specialized lighting system that it is probably horribly expensive but perhaps some of the partner companies will develop them for less specialized applications and bring the price of them down.

 

Not that anyone would actually buy one of these at this point considering that the price is probably very high. I just wanted to share what i found. hopefully this kind of lighting will be more commercially available in the near future.
