AquaClear & heater

Can I fit a 50watt Tronic heater in an AquaClear 300? How about a 500? Can I also have live rock in there for some more biological filtration, or should I put in something else (such as carbon, or chemi-pure, or phosphate remover or whatever)? I plan on a 7gal AGA. Will it move so much water that a powerhead will just be superfluous?

you can fit a 50w tronic in aquaclear mini if you really wanted(needed) to... you just need to make some modifications. IMO, this is NOT the safest approach... but i did it anyway. X) i cut a piece of acrylic the size of my filter cartridge in my millenium1000 HOB filter (in order to dam the water level to an appropriate level) check out thread: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...=&threadid=6976

specs and exploded diagrams for aquaclears are avalable at hagen's website (hagen.com).

lots of threads as of recent on minibows (trendy to have a bow7 i guess ;) ) . an EXCELLENT place to do additional, minibow research is gilman's site... www.oc-creative.com/reef

don't know about the heater fitting in there only because i don't know the dimensions of either item but here are a couple of links for you to look at (i know there are several others as well), you can do a more in depth search if these don't answer your questions

Hm... the heater fits at an angle in my dad's AC 200's, so I'm guessing they'll fit on the 300's... How big is the opening on the canopy?

And I was gonna use the Eclipse 6 that I already had, but everyone shot down that idea in chat, lol.
