leaky
I've found a really cool hood for my tank. Inside the hoods made for track lighting is 2 power compacts. here is the catch. It says that i can only put 24-27watt bulbs in them. I have not found any bulbs in these watts that have the proper colour temp. here is the question-- could i use the 28 watt bulbs we all know of and they just light up 1 watt less than its full power or would that cause some sort of explosion. Thanks Link to comment

leaky
Thanks much for the link. However, as I live in canada, we are supressed to the availability of the 27 watt bulb with the right colour temperature for a reef tank... which is the reason why I am wondering about using a 1 watt higher bulb than the ballast calls for... because I can get a 28 watt bulb anywhere... cmagallon
you will over heat your ballast. I use a 128 watt ballast to run my 3x 28/32 watt bulbs so it does not over heat. i have a couple left. Link to comment
