Monkeyrobb
I'm nearly ready to set up my 30x24x24 tank and am still confused about lighting. T5's are the new rage, right? Are they so much more powerful than PC's? I may have narrowed it down to these 4 units. Please give some advice. 1) Aqua Medic 250w MH and (2) 24w T5 2) Coralife 150 (or 250) MH and (2) 65w pc 3) Current outer orbit (same as coralife) 4) Nova 4 x24w T5 (I could fit two of these in my hood, if need be) Thanks, Robb Link to comment
jeremai
On a 24" deep tank, you're probably better off with the metal halides - T5's rock, but they don't have the depth penetration of MH. Link to comment
Guitargod6453
1) Aqua Medic 250w MH and (2) 24w T5 this choice would be the best for a mixed reef tank, and later down the road when you want to keep SPS. good luck skeet skeet skeet Link to comment
MJD
Hey if you have the money go with the MH's and T-5's and maybe some actinics. MJD Link to comment
Monkeyrobb
Thanks guys. I'm a little worried about the heat of a 250 mh. I don't have room for a chiller! Robb Link to comment

Monkeyrobb
Updated possiblities. Greg at Reefgeek.com seems to think that 4x24 t-5's would be fine. I think I'd go 6x24 to be safe. Sunlight supply or ice cap? Robb Link to comment
NEVER SATISFIED REFFER
sunlight supply tek lighting is the only way to go with t5, otherwise its just another floresent light. Link to comment
