kevin brocato
Just got my 10 gallon set up Tuesday and water is clearing up nicely. I was wondering since I don't have any corals yet can I run some carbon in my HOB filter to speed up the clearing process? Right now it is empty just circulating water for flow. I have heard carbon leaches some phosphates into the water. Any feedback on this? I am planning to do a water change so any phosphates will be taken out to a certain degree. Or should I just leave well enough alone? Link to comment
Rocket_155
i wuse carbon in my tanks every now and then. All is does is polish the water to make it more clearer and almost sparkel. i say use it just till it clears up then remove it. Link to comment
onthefly
If you use good "quality" carbon, it shouldn't leech PO4's. I think I use Kent Carbon and I keep it in 24/7, changing once a month and no phosphate problems. Tank always looks clean! Link to comment
