Hello, and Starting new 2.5

Hello folks,

After being out of the Mini Reef tank set up for a bit I have decided to dive back in. I am setting up a 2.5 All Glass tank with the Coralife 2X18 watt 50/50 PC light. Filtration will be minimal, I was thinking of using a small Hand on the back with will hold the Hydor 7 watt heat pad for supplimental heat at nigh when the lights are off. I will be doing weekly 50% water changes.

A couple things I am still trying to decice that I would like input on.

1. What temperature to aim for.

2. What kind if salt do you folks recommend these days.

3. I want to go with a sand base, how much sould I use.

I'd say 78-80F and a 1" sand base. I use instant ocean and it has always worked good for my small tanks.

1. Around 76-80F

2. I use Instant Ocean.

3. I use enough to have a 1-1.5" sandbed.

if i were you i would get an Aquclear 20 and get a Hydor 25w or 50w heater.... you cant set the 7w one.. and the 25w and 50w fit into the aquaclear 20 (when there is nothing it it... i mean completly empty... not even the plastic holder tray thing that holds the carbon and stuff...
