bwings
Hi, just added a lemonpeel angelfish to my reef tank, perfect conditions, no stress etc but the new fish will not eat at all (3rd day). He acknowledges that its feeding time by darting round the tank, but does not eat whatsoever. I'm getting worried now as I can see him slowly losing weight. Tried frozen marine mix, brine, vedgemix,flake...none seem to work....should i try live brine? thanks in advance b Link to comment
Rocket_155
try the live brineshrimp. If it eats then then you'll know you might have to wean it off live to get it to eat a frozen deit. HTH *edit did you notice if it was eating at the LFS? Link to comment
bwings
did you notice if it was eating at the LFS? I know...BIG mistake, first time I've ever bought without asking to see the fish feed...and I end up with a bulimic fish.....great luck I have. Link to comment
onthefly
My Angel took 3-4 days before he started to eat. Even after a month, he'll only eat if you back away from the tank......big scare'D KAT! I've heard of people using GarliX, Garlique, or something like that to stimulate feeding. Aquarium pros carrys the stuff under additives, you might try that if your really worried. Link to comment
Djm9288
What soze tank is he in?? If its too small he may be stressed. Yes and ALWAYS make sure that the y are eating at the LFS Link to comment
bwings
he's in a 40 gallon tank with perfect water conditions, Ive had a placid chromi in the same tank for seven years so in theory he should be fine. 5th day and he's still not even trying to eat, can see straight through is skin now. I've tried live brine, frozen brine, marine mix, veggie mix, flake. I'd give him another 12 hours, I'm in a position now of either hoping he'll come round (very doubtful) or taking him back to the LFS and going mental at the guy for not conditioning his fish before he sells them. rmack5
Just to let you know, I had a bicolor angel that did not eat for weeks. Then one day he decided to pig out. Been fine ever since. From my experience, angels eat when they want to eat if they are healthy. Link to comment
reefan
Try some romaine lettuce mixed with some seaweed selects. This may do the trick. They are not as quick to eat if they dont feel like it. Hope he is ok JJ Link to comment
