The New Jersy State Aquarium.

Anyone been there? it's in southern NJ, and I'm going to the H.H. Backer show in AC ( Int. Pet trade Expo in April). I'm looking fer feedback to see if its worth the trip. I seen a quick snippet on Animal Planet about it, and hit the web site. it doesnt show much inside. From what I saw in the TV program it looked ######ty.

Its in Camden NJ, and that town is ######ty, so I'm not expecting Bling Bling. Just curious.

Here is a link.

Thanx.

The one in Baltimore is very good. Boston's got a decent one too. The coolest public aquarium I've visited is in New Orleans. If anyone ever gets down there, stop in. The gigantic walk-through reef alone is worth the admission.

Boston blew except for a few side exhibits. the fish in the main tank are old and have serious disease and lymphocitis issues on a LOT of them..... I was totaly turned off. the Baltimore was awesome. I seen it afew years ago. I intend to be back there soon as I have a symposioum to attend in Maryland in February.

thanks so far.

Dave, when did you go to the Boston Aquarium? Has it gone downhill? Haven't been there in years, but it didn't look poorly maintained when I was there. The big tank in the middle of the spiraling ramp thing wasn't that impressive. But they had a lot of really interesting smaller tanks throughout.

I hit the NJ State Aquarium last summer. For what a paid to get in ($28.00 or something), I would have driven to see a nice aquarium.

On a side note, the Philly zoo is pretty cool, and on the right side of the river....

Kev, I was there over the summer. It was well maintained, but the central spire tank left a LOT of be desired in fish. the Scoliosis Shark is STILL THERE ! ahahahahah.

hey, well I may be a bit biased, as I'm from baltimore, but it's the best aquarium I've been to yet. I'd skip the one in jersey, I didn't like it, but I think everyone who comes to baltimore thinks it's worth their time, I've never ever heard a complaint from a tourist, but at a few others (including jersey) I have heard complaints. Try the baltimore one out, it's great. (I wanna go to New Orleans now.........)

i am a member at the baltimore aquarium even though i live in north carolina :P . The line was huuuge when i went so i decided to F it and get a membership since i am up in that area alot visiting family. The aquarium is nice, but everytime i have been it is sooo crowded with screaming kids or crying babies. Other than that though, very nice, i like the current sea horse exhibit, very cool.

and while you are there- check out this resteraunt called 'Joy', its at the top of a museum on the other sideof the harbor. i really like the food there

Satch, if you think the NO aquarium is cool, you should check out the zoo. I remember my senior year I had a class where we had to go to the zoo and study differen't animals and their behavior. It was a go on your own type project. I went several times under several influences. Needless to say, their behavior was varied depending on my state.

The NO aquarium is insane and that walk thru reef is wild. I want a baby manta ray for my tank.

The two best I have seen so far are Sea Life Park in Hawaii (Oahu) for salt water and the Tennessee Aquarium in Chattanooga (some salt but focuses on fresh and right now they have an amazing Seahorse display). If anyone ever makes it to either of these states they are well worth checking out. Good stuff.

Didn't do the zoo in Nawlins. Last few trips were centered around other indulgences. One of the coolest tanks there was the bioluminescent deep-water jellies. And the sea dragons (I think they were called) are the hands-down, most crazy-ass looking creatures I've ever seen.

I was in NO this past March. Saw on the news a few weeks later that someone had fallen from that catwalk and into the big shark tank. Luckily, they had just been fed and they pulled the guy out before he was ripped up.

That's it, I am heading to the Nawlins aquarium. My friend and I were planning on taking a trip down there for this years supercross anyway so I am planning this in. Sounds awesome.

when I was there they didn't have the jelly or dragon tanks. They opened after I graduated and I went there the first time I went back to visit. Managed to squeeze that in between days at Jazz Fest. I will definitely go back next time I head down there. I'll probably have the daughter with me so she will love the zoo and aquarium. The zoo was once considered one of the worst animal prisons in the world and then the Audobon Society stepped in and made the most amazing zoo. Everything is open and outdoors (except for the obvious areas - snakes, birds etc.) and everything is as natural as can be provided. Lots of room for the animals to roam around and you can get pretty close to some of them.

New Orleans is my favorite city in the US for many reasons. The zoo and aquarium are added attractions, as is the casino. I have been there 5 times since the casino finally opened and once when they had the temporary casino up (was there when the roof caved in due to heavy rains) and have only entered the gambling arena twice and it was in the same trip. So many better ways to occupy your time there.

Next to NY, of course.

NO is a great friggin time. The March trip was my third. It coincided with Spring Break. This was not our intention, but it worked out well :) A group of five slammin' young, drunken coeds took to the stage at The Cat's Meow, stripped down to nothing and began, well.... it was something to behold. Crazy ###### goin' down in The Big Easy. The entire Quarter smells like a fraternity basement... something about the scent of stale beer and #### really makes me nostalgic.
