cirionrc
Ever since about 3 weeks ago when cyano took over my tank and pumps, the pump to my refugium is pumping less and less water every week, and my CRP Bak Pak 2 is creating half the bubbles it used to. Is there a way to clean them, or open them up or is a new pump the only way to go. Link to comment
Physh1
Most powerheads/pumps are cleanable. The base usually rotates off or pops off exposing the impellar shaft assembly so you can clean the cavity/impellar and inspect the impellar for damage. You should do these cleaninga round every 6 months or so to keep the pumps in good shape. Cameron Link to comment
tinyreef
the lazy way would be to drop the powerhead into a cup of vinegar and soak overnite. then rinse and then soak in FW overnite. for pumps you can do the same ONLY with the impellers. : if you can't wait then use a toothbrush (no toothpaste) and a pan scrubber (no detergent or copper wire).
