BennettOZ
Hey everyone, Starting a new tank, i found this little tank at a yard sale, I got it for a few bucks. Not sure Gallon wise how big it is, It measures: 16 inch long, 6 inch wide, 8 inch tall. Anyways need a few ideas. What should I put in here? Need heater... what type of heater should I use? 25w? What I have: I have some live rock from other tank ready to go. Red Sea Nano filter, 30gl per hour. (not bad for a little guy) Coral life, 18w 50/50 fexture. 30gal/PH Garden pump for extra water movement, $9.99 @ Local garden shop. Crushed coral substrate. (switch to sand maybe?) Anyways here is some pictures of the start of it. Link to comment

The Keeper
I'd use sand instead of coral. As for what to put into it...whatever you want. Zoanthids, soft corals, lps, sponges, mushrooms, shrimp, hermits, and snails. It needs to be low light stuff.. You could also make it a Mantis Shrimp Tank. Regardless of what you want to put in there, throw the rock and sand in there now so it starts cycling. You pretty much have all the equipment you need. With a tank that small though, it won't be easy keeping your specific gravity stable, but if you keep your top-offs daily you shouldn't have a problem.. Link to comment
BennettOZ
Thanks everyone! Anyone have a idea of a heater though? I can find anything really other then a 25watt. or a 7.5 Flat heater! Link to comment
Iveman
i dont use a heater at all. i live in florida but i keep my room temp at a cool 73 degrees. i also dont keep my tank near a window, its only .5 gal so any slight temp change throws the system easily. as for what to keep in your tank, you have a several options. my only advice would be to study up on whatever you want before you buy. it'll save you cash and heartache. otherwise good luck and keep us posted on your progress!!
