Green & Maroon Hair Algea getting out of control

I have had my tank for two years. I had a few bits of hair algea here and there but it never seemed to get out of control. The other day I noticed that I now have two colors of hair algea. A green one and a Maroon one that grow in their own little different color patches. Well ever since the Red hair Algea appeared I fear its getting worse. I don;t want to loose my tank.

 

What is the best solution for a problem like this? Army of blue leg hermits?

 

In the picture you can't really tell but its there alright.

 

Also some dust some hangs on the live rock that is like a lint brownish color......can i just get a small brush and brush it off?

 

It seems my old rock doesn't have this problem. Its the new rock that has the hair algea problem.
