Light to water surface height

I just finished building my DIY canopy for my 10Gal tank. The installed lights are a 32 watt Power Compact Smart Light with a 10,000K/Actininc 03 combo bulb, a 10,000K Normal Output 15watt flourescent and an Actininc 03 Normal Output 15watt flourescent. There is no glass or acrylic below the lights.

My question is and of course I think of this after I build it, is how far away or how close should the lights be from the water suface.

They are approx 4 inches from the water surface now. Is this too far away?

I'm planning on keeping only soft corals and Shrooms. Not planning on any high light intensity animals at this time but would the current lighting be sufficient for high light loving animals too. Thanks!:P

the height is fine. depending on your endcaps you may want to put a sheild between the bulbs and water. salt creep can form on the endcaps and short bulbs out.
