Iphantom
I have a H.O.T magnum filter hanging around and I was wondering: would it be ok to take off my aqua clear 150 and put that on? I would like to but I just want to be sure. -Matt Link to comment
Brianc_4
A H.O.T. Magnum on a 7 seems to me to be a bit of an overkill. I would stick with the 150. Unless of course your fish want to surf on the wave created by the return. Link to comment
Tracker
hmmmm sounds too big to me. i took my hob off alltogether and just run a PH now. either of those 2 would be good for a quick polishing using just an emty pad or sleeve. Link to comment
Iphantom
I am going for overkill(hence the 26lbs of live rock) now assuming I can hook it up so the return isnt as harsh it can't hurn to overfilter right? I whould not take the hang on back off becuase it helps get rid of the particals of junk in the tank that show up now and agian -Matt Link to comment
xofinnocent
Dont use the H.O.T. on a nano- for the same reason you dont use trickle filters- you will over filter the system- and eventualy cause only problems for your self. My suggestion is to not use it - the live rock should be enough filtration for the tank- especialy with the amount you have. Link to comment
Rocket_155
i agree with xofinnocent you have enough live rock to filter that tank. why not runn it with just a power head and leave it as that? Link to comment
Iphantom
but what about all the debries that turns up? doesnt it need mec. filtration as well as bio? -Matt Link to comment
xofinnocent
just do water changes, seriously the filter could do more harm then good Link to comment
Iphantom
ok... but one question about water changes I have heard conflicting rules to how many cups per gallon and I mix it in a water jug first but do I have to let it sit after mixing it? thanks -Matt Link to comment
