natrate
It's time to upgrade my digital camera and I'm thinking about getting this: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/A610/A610A.HTM I'm not an expert, but I want to be. From what I understand, this camera will allow me to manually adjust aperature and shutter speed. It also seems to be great at macros. Anyone use this camera? What do you think? Link to comment
shag26272
I heard good things about that camera. heres a link from where i got my Nikon from. They have good prices , good support, and they sell a ton of cameras. http://cgi.ebay.com/Canon-PowerShot-A610-D...oQQcmdZViewItem Link to comment
jenn_jeffery
It *looks* like you should be able to. I would go into a local camera store (Wolf, Ritz....or just a local shop) and see if they have one in stock you can play with. If you want a *professional* camera, more than a point and shoot style, look at the Canon Rebel XT, Nikon 50D(?), and such along those lines. They are all SLR digital cameras, which have the interchangeable lens on them. Not as cheap, but NICE cameras. Link to comment

A digital SLR is the way to go. much more flexible in regards to options easier to get filters such as a polizer filter to cut glare etc... costs a bit more but if you are going to do anything higher than just casual pictures its the only route to go. natrate
I just noticed one of the shooting modes is "Underwater". A dumb question, but surely this camera isn't submersible? Is there an enclosure that the camera fits into to be able to go underwater? Link to comment
shag26272
I have a Nikon and you can order an underwater case. Im sure they might have the same kind of thing. Link to comment
lgreen
Natrate, I am in the same boat as you. I have this stupid little sony digital camera that sucks for reefing photography. I've been trying to buy a new camera for about a year now, but every time I get the money saved up, something else comes up. I think most would agree Nikon and Canon make probably the best cameras out there (there are a lot of other good hit and miss models of certain brands, but generally everything nikon and canon produce is good). I am a nikon person myself (although I do have a 35mm Canon, and APS canon elph). I think nikon has better photo quality than any other camera brand. That camera you posted is pretty nice. I would look at these ones too: http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1122652695786 http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?sk...d=1099391751809 Ebay = evil, buy it somewhere good. B&H photo usually has great prices online. http://www.bhphotovideo.com Link to comment
