marrone
I'm going to turn my 35 gal hex into a mini reef. Right now I have about 20-25 pounds of live rock and a bout 3" of crush coral, which I will be placing with live sand. Now what I would like to know is what type of lighting should I get. Now I know it would all depend on the type of corals that I plan on keeping but I would like to get different options on lighting requirements for different corals. TIA Michael Link to comment
technoshaman
not sure what conventional fixtures would fit over it easy without building a custom canopy. I see a lot of people putting single bell shaped metal halide pendants over larger hex tanks. That would give you a lot of light to work with and you could get one fairly cheap plus a decent wide spectrum bulb. Link to comment
marrone
I was thing of using 24" AqualightDeluxe Series - Double Linear Strip with 1-65 watt Actinic and 1-65 watt 10,000K™ Compact Fluorescent Lamps. Would that be good enough or should I go with 1 mh and another small bulb. Michael Link to comment
Satchmo
Go halide. The depth of that tank will be hard for PCs to penetrate. Link to comment
