i think it is a bad poll overall, you cant even compare a remora to a euro-reef to a coralife ss? cost wise or effectiveness they have no comparison

aquamedic turboflotor T1000, once you get it up and running. the plumbing seems to get confusing to some people. i got mine used for 50 bucks, and for 50 bucks, it pulls out a lot of dark, smelly skimmate.

I have a lifereek knock off, made by a dude from Montreal. Its an awesome skimmer. I couldnt run my totally overstocked 60 gallon without it.

...makes me wonder if the real thing is any better or if this knock off is actually the same/better.

happy reefin'

Well I can officialy vouch that a Deltec MC500 blows away an AquaC Urchin and Remora (I have all three). Deltec easily produces 3-5 times more skimmate of a darker, thicker, stinkier (light a match stinky) variety than the AquaC's could ever hope or dream of producing.

I've been converted.

Deltec 4 Life :D

The Remora is OK for the price I guess. Mine smells like mold (which is really annoying considering my tank is in my dining room area lol) but I guess that is a good thing. I have the cup as low as it will go and I don’t get much skimmate though.. maybe my water is just clean to begin with.

My ranking for skimmers is as follows...

All needlewheels BTW...injector/downdraft/beckett/venturi need not apply until you get to 400gallons or more of capacity. They just arent efficient enough to justify their electrical needs until you get this big.

1. Bubbleking

2. H&S

3. Deltec (number 1 calcium reactor BTW) / DAS

4. Aquamedic

5. Tunze

6. ER

7. GEO

8. Schuran (really a better skimmer, but not for the $$$)

9. http://www.reefmania.net/products-skimmers.php

10. ASM (number 6 if done with the recirculating mod from www.asmskimmer.com)

11. CoralVue

If you can get him to make a skimmer for you, Spazz over at RC is making skimmers based off the new ReefFlo Dart Needlewheel...

Easily a #3 or 4 on my list with the configurations he runs.
