Cami
I found in my shed a 5 gal acrylic tank that I would like to use as a refugium. If I put it side by side with my 7 gal bow and maintain the water at the same level in both, will I need an overflow box in the main tank? Can I use a power head 402 to pump water from refugium to tank with a syphon to return it, or 2 syphon tubes for return incase the syphon is broke on one the other will still function. With the water at the same level in each my only flood problems would occur if the syphon return is stopped. I would think that this should be power failure safe. Please correct me if I'm wrong. Thanks, Cami Link to comment
tgrupert
I have the same type of setup. I have two 10 gallon tanks. it's a reall simple setup that is great for pod survivability. You should have the pump send water to the fuge and the return is a siphon so the pods entering the display don't get killed by the pump. I also would recomend using two siphons just in case. they should be clear so you can tell when they malfunction. Link to comment
Cami
Thanks. Does anyone sell clear PVC to make the pair of siphons? Cami Link to comment
MacnReef
www.aquaticeco.com sells clear pvc, but if they are going to be touching you could use a U-tube, like what is found in external overflow boxes for your syphon. AES should have those too. Link to comment
TheIceberg
That place looked pretty expensive to me so I did a search and found a much cheaper place for clear pvc here http://www.savko.com/portal/clearpvc.asp Does anyone have an experience with them? Link to comment
