Help with Fujifilm S3000

so I've had this camera for a year today and it takes good still pictures, and I'm getting better at technique with action pictures (camera reacts a bit slow) but I was wondering if any of you had dealt with this camera and could help me get good macro shots. I get some shots that are really good, and others just don't come out. If anyone could help me I'd appreciate it.
