harlock
Fearing that the nitrate test kit i had been using was giving me a false reading of low nitrates (it was getting low, and maybe it went bad), I decided to open up the new kit i had bought a few weeks ago (same brand). The old kit was giving me a reading between 0-5ppm as it has been reading for several weeks now. The NEW kit gave me some bizarre brownish green reading that didn't match any of the colors on the strip, like not even close. Everything in the tank is healthy. Anyone ever hear of this happening before? What do you think I should do? -h- Link to comment
Regal Tang
my test kits nitrate doesnt work...but nitrate is zero...i test at the store for free! =) Link to comment
harlock
Yeah, my LFS would test it for me in a heartbeat. Does anyone have a clue as to what may have been the problem? Which test kit is most likely correct? I'm guessing my old kit is correct as everything in the tank is healthy. Shrimp are usually the first to go when nitrates are too high; something like 20+ppm and they kick it. -h- Link to comment
SuperPuffer
it would be helpful to know the brand... Link to comment
Nosferatu
I got one the other day that was giving me results SO HIGH it prompted a 40% change.....it was way off. Still gave me 40+ ppm after the 40%, that was my sign. Link to comment
NanoCube-boy
I have a Master Saltwater test kit and I test my main tank 15ppm and my Quarntine tank 15ppm also. It is weird.... Link to comment
