Ok guys, im going to start on my Pico tank thread that is "My 1/2gallons Pico Tank”. A new beginning to a not so new style of reefing and a fare share to those poor reefers (as i am now )trying something new. So stay tune.

by the way,u guys are responsible for making me in doing this pico...

My Pico tank will consist of a 6"x5"x6" inches (all glass tank), hood, cabinet

--equipment used are PC lights (which im going to DIY myself to fit in the hood), external mini filter and a small blue led lights(to stimulate as a nightlight) and timers.

--1kg to 3kg of LR will be used and 1inch of fine sand bed.

--LS intended to keep;

Fish-nil(as in NO NO)

Invert-maybe 1 or two small snails, a shrimp(not decide yet as to what kind)

Corals-softies(as in yumas/rics/mushies)

--Maintance- 3 to 4days alternate of 15% water change(or should i say a Teacup full of new saltwater) by using corallife mix salt with DI water, and checking water parameters using testkits wkly.

Wow, looks excellent I love those blue mushrooms. I looked at it once and had to come back because I couldn't stop thinking about it.

Have you ever thought of displaying it where it can be seen from all sides?

i am thinking of doing propogation to it...so in the meantime, im feeding it daily, making it as healthy as possible till on the day it goes for "surgery" then.....more babies to fillup my pico...at every angles :)

very nice rhodactis. I seen a tri color at a LFS that I want to get but they want too much mooooola for it!

tri color are quite rare to find nowadays and maybe that is why LFS quote high price for them.

I like those shrimps too. I also have two of them, here's some interesting observations over the last few months:

-best shrimp ever about staying out in the daytime and not hiding

-has been responsible for rather significant frag transplant damage, they've been seen peeling very fine bits of SPS flesh off newly-growing montipora. The tiny frags I use aren't strong growers yet and are very small, so any damage is notable due to the size of the coral. They are always picking with their claws anywhere they step, but on larger soft and hard corals (with thicker tissues) the damage is much less pronounce. I consider this miniature natural selection in the pico reef and watch the countergrowth of SPS keep up with this low-level stripping fairly well

-have seen them pick for one hour at a fox coral, leaving the ends slightly frayed

-very tough, had a temp spike and a SG drop that was hard on them

-for the most part the benefits outweigh their ability to nit-pick some corals to minor stress...
