tonkadawg
Not a nano question, but I know a lot of you have reef tanks, and I respect the members here, so here's my question lighting: (yes yet another lighting question) tank is a standard 75 gallon - 48x18x20 and there is about 4 1/4" from the top of the tank to the bottom of the canopy (so metal halides are out). Boss wants to keep softies, LPS's, and maybe an annome. Probably won't want any clams, SPS's or difficult like that. VHO or PC? I was thinking 3 or 4x96 PC with actinic and 10K bulbs. Mnesarchus
I think VHO are better for larger tanks like that. Link to comment
tonkadawg
what sort of VHO set up would you recommend? Link to comment
Mnesarchus
Maybe 4 x 110w VHO (46.5" long), 2 x 10000k and 2 x actinic 03. Those are the lights my LFS owner uses on his show tank and everything is doing wonderfully. At hellolights.com you can get the ballast for 4 bulbs for $149.00 and the bulbs for $23.95 each http://www.hellolights.com/aquasun465vho.html http://www.hellolights.com/4lampvhokit.html Hope this helps Link to comment
Dave ESPI
ummmmmmm one of our "lady reefers" has an almost identical thread onthis on a "school project inherited tank". a LOT of the replies there are pertnent to your thread. look for it, Ill see if I can link. EDIT: http://www.nano-reef.com/forums/showthread...=&threadid=6630 I think it has a LOT of good points. Esp. my post on second page. Crakuer also recent had a thread (I couldnt find) about the fiascoe he had with his "work" tank, so it might be worth reading. Link to comment
