10 gal: what kind of filters?

I'm planning a10 gal reef tank that will have live rock, crabs, snails, a fish or two and maybe some corals later. I have a hang on power filter made for 10 gallon tanks. Will this be enough filtration along with live sand? Do I need more? Also, will I need extra equipment for aeration? Thanks for the help.

Check out members tanks forum for an idea of what everyone uses. I would keep the filter and remove all the media and use it simply for water circulation (with the occasional use of carbon) and pick up 2 mini jet 606's or 404's from marinedepot.com and use them for additional circulation.

The live rock is your main form of filtration so don't skimp on it. Then again don't fill up your tank with 19#'s of it like I did the first time.

Searching is also a very good way of finding out specific information such as what people use for lighting on 10G tanks etc.

HTH, good luck, and post pics.
