Zac
I just have a few questions regarding results of tests run on a new tank. Tank was filled for the first time today with prepared water from the lfs. The only other thing in the tank is 20lbs of arag-alive #0. my test show the following: pH= 7.8 (taken w/ a Sharp pH pin and verified w/ a seachem kit) SG=1.022 Alakalinity=.5 (seachem kit) Why are the pH and alkalinity so low. Shouldn't everything be spot on with new water. Salt they use is Coralife, which I know is not the best, but it shouldn't render results like this, should it? I know its the same thing they use and they seem to have no problems,(i.e. decent looking corals, open polyps, no seemingly stressed fish.) What do I need to do to get all my readings right so that I can get some LR in ther ASAP. Thanks, Zac Link to comment
tgrupert
do you airate your wasser before you add the salt? do a water change that is the best way to get better wasser conditions. Link to comment
ross76053
Did you get a reading before or after adding the arag-alive #0? Link to comment
Zac
tgru, I purchased the water already prepaired. ross, These readings were taken after the sand was added and the water circulated for about 3-4 hours. I wish I had a better understanding of water params so I could determine what would be the cause of the bad results. Thank you for your input, anyone else have any ideas? Link to comment
ross76053
Man, don't worry about the readings yet. Put your rock in now and get it curing. Not a big deal. The pH and everything else will get a little whacked out while it's curing anyway. Link to comment
