CodeToad
It seems like there really isn't a good solution out there for pico reef lighting. There is the 7W Palm Light and 13W Galaxy Light, but both come with 6500ish kelvin bulbs, so if you want to buy a 50/50 thats another 8 bucks you have to spend. Clip-on Lights Can you even change the bulb in the 7W Palm Light version? Are there any other options out there I'm not aware of? It seems like if someone out there would make a professional quality LED array that had a small computer chip, simlating dawn and dusk, with a mix of white and blue lights, it would sell like crazy. bluebastion
Hmmm I was under the impression that the Palm lights are 10k... I have one, used to be on my AC300 fuge... now on my wife's betta vase.... It never struck me as a yellow light. You might want to look into this more... I bought mine at Drs Foster and Smith. CodeToad
mushroom head That'd be cool, are you planning on just one unit for yourself or are you planning on making a professional product? I was under the impression that you can controal the brightness of the LED bulbs, so you could have one array that just dims on slowly then dims off is what I was thinking, but either way would be pretty slick if you ask me. Daemonfly I saw that but can you replace the bulb in the Palm Light? From reading around here I was under the impression that the bulb wasn't replaceable. bluebastion I actually orderd one this morning so we'll see. Glad you like yours, hopefully you are right. Color temperatures for bulbs are generally manufactuers claims anyway, rather than true kelvin temperatures. Color temps are so hard to discuss, even with pictures, but do you think you would describe it as a nice crisp white color, and does it supplement the colors of the corals well? Link to comment

Daemonfly
If that Palm light has the 7w PCs in it, then yes they can be replaced. I'm under the impression that these palm lights are basically similar to the Azoo Deco cube lights, which I have many of, and have a few different bulbs for. Link to comment
CodeToad
I could be wrong, but I think Azoo makes the Galaxy light, the Deco light you are talking about, and the Palm light. Link to comment
LekicINC
what are the other bulbs you use in your azoo light? Link to comment
the_human_myth
Is a palm light adequate for mushroom polyps, GSP, and ricordia mushrooms? Will it really bring out their colors? I have one of those betta hex kits (4" wide x 5" tall) that I am thinking of converting into a pico. I tossed the gravel and the plant, and was going to add: * Airation: Air stone with a mini pump. (Smallest on lowest setting h20 circulation.) http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...4&N=2004+113800 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...1&N=2004+113403 http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/rela...id=19936&N=2004 * Filtration: Live Rock * Lighting: Palm Light (Assuming it's adequate for at least rics and shrooms). http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod...&pc=1&N=0&Nty=1 * Heating: Mini heater. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...7&N=2004+113767 * Tempeture Gague: Adhesive mini thermometer. http://www.drsfostersmith.com/Product/Prod...0&N=2004+113769 Am I missing anything?
