RJ Posted January 1, 2003 Share Posted January 1, 2003 I purchased a new wet dry filter? for my 50 gal. I didnt realize how little I knew. It is a seperate acrylic box that sits below. It is divided into three sections, two small sections on each end and a large center section. The first small section on the left (where the water comes in) has a protien skimmer, heater and a small bubble maker (sorry not sure of the term) The center section has a floss and sponge at the top where the water comes in and drips over bio balls, then goes out the bottom, through another sponge and into the pump chamber back to the tank. My question...... When I leave the protien skimmer tube hanging out it will fill the waste collector in a couple of hours. Am I susposed to let this just drip, and refill the water levels or will it slow down? Or am I susposed to plug the tub some of the time. and empty occationally. Any help will be apprecaited.
