I've had a 30-gallon tank for a couple of years but have never had anything as small as 2.5 gallons. Anyway my questions: What would you recommend as the maximum flow for 2.5 gallons? I was thinking about 150-gph. Where would you recommend buying a check valve to prevent backflow in case of a power outage? Marine depot has some but they want $15+. Anything cheaper than that? Daemonfly Posted October 12, 2005 Share Posted October 12, 2005 Whatsa check valve? Only allows water to flow one way. Basically prevents water in main display from draining into the sump/fuge. Most people just use the many overflow designs for the drains and a tiny siphon-break hole on the return. Link to comment
