Foogoo
Where can I find shells for my hermits? None of the LFS carry any and I don't want to wait until they start murdering each other and the astreas. Link to comment
Guest AbSoluTc
You have a couple options. Check petstores that have them as pets. They carry the shells. Check online as well and with other reefers in your area. Link to comment
jonah
Arts and crafts stores sell packages of shells for decorations. A small basket costs about $4.00. They might even sell them at Walmart in their crafts section. I've been using them for my Tanganyikan shell dwellers. Link to comment
LiQuiD
Go with the bag of shells at the craft store. I had an emergency once when my largest hermit had to move into a larger home. None of the astrea shells were big enough and he was desperate. I went into one of my bathrooms and grabbed a cool multi-colored shell out of a basket with shell shaped soap in it and brown easter grass looking stuff (wife likes that junk). It was a little large for him but he took to it anyway. It was the coolest looking crab in the tank (for a while at least until the coraline and macro started to get on the shell and it lost its shiny spiral colored luster). So go buy a bag of craft shells, the also just look nice in the tank as decorations even before the crabs move into them. Link to comment
