Worm-thing and sponges?

I have these white things all over the rock in different places; they look almost like spider webs. Are they sponges? Should they survive the cycle OK?

 

This worm guy has been in my tank moving around all the time. Sometimes he gets really thin and long, other times he is just like this picture. He has darker and lighter brown stripes (4 total) and a grey, puffy face.

 

EDIT: I'm 80% positive that it's a peanut worm.

I think the things on your rocks are sponges..whether or not they survive the cycle just depends on the cycle. I have a ton of them from my original rock, so some of them survived. Ånd yep, that's a peanut!
