headman
I have had my 12g nano for about 8 mths. Is it necessary to keep all three of those filter sponges in the back compartment or are you not suppose to do that? Link to comment
reefin300
pull out the sponges, if you like run 1 sponge on the very top so catch any free floating debris and wash it out 2x a week with tank water. Link to comment
Ang&Pat
Get rid of the sponges! By filter floss or equivalent. That way you can throw it away every week. With the sponges you would be disgusted by how much stays even after you rinse them thoroughly. Don't believe me take a used one and cut it in half. Yucky. As soon as i switched to the floss my algea growth disappeard. Coral growth has increased and the tank just looks cleaner. And I use to religiously clean out the sponges twice a week. Link to comment

There you can get a 20oz bag for $2.50, which is a lot more product for less money then you would get at a LFS. To use it, just pull some off and stick into the caparment(s) in your Nano Cube.
