s3aL
Yup, finally got my refractometer in the mail. Ive been using the simple swing arm hydrometer for awhile now thinking my salinity was at 1.025 while my Refractometer is showing me that its at 1.020! Everything has been fine in my tank though nothing has died or looked bad. I calibrated it with RO water a few times just to make sure and tested salinity a few times. I cant believe how off the hydrometer was :| . Link to comment

yoshiod9
frankly, i'm never too worried about the salinity levels in your tank...as long as all new occupants receive a decent acclimation, things should be fine. just keep your specific gravity at the same mark all the time. i prefer just knowing that mine usually runs about .001 off. that way i don't have to spend money on a hydrometer.
