2 Questions about the NC12

First: is the 12g NC cabinet stand open in the back, or is it a closed stand? I would like to feed wires through there.

 

Second: Does anyone run their NC 12 without mods? I am contemplating different areas of placement for the tank and was wondering if I can run it without additional filtration or a refugium. There will be zoanthids only...no fish, no inverts = no feeding.

I can help you with the first question. I have the 12g stand with the cabinet and it has a triangle shaped opening at the upper area of the back of the stand. It is plenty of space to run lots of wires through. My 12DX is heavily modded and I can still fit all the wires (over a dozen) through.
