Extremely long white worm

about half the diameter of common spaghetti. It comes out, actually two of them appear to come out of a hole in a piece of LR, and start getting longer and longer until they reach the sand bed, a distance of about 3" then they snake out along the sand bed, all the while still in firm contact within their hole i the LR. They seem to colect particles of rock and sand which is stuck to them, and then pull themselves abck up and into their hole, sand and all, and shortly remerge and repeat the process over and over......Would these be the start of a feather duster building its tube or is it some other critter? If other critter, whats it doing with all the sand and fragments its hauling up into its hole?

It's a similar worm, can't remember name though. It's not harmful to the tank, and the 2 things you see are put out to find food then drag it back to the mouth inside the tube. Pretty common.

Daemonfly's got it. It's a harmless worm--naturally I can never remember the name--but it's quite harmless. You've seen its two feeding tentacles pulling bits of detritus back into its cave to eat.

Not a peanut worm. It's the chaetopterid worms mentioned above.
