Prophecy
This stuff any good? anyone try it? http://www.naturesocean.com/bioactive.htm Link to comment
Fant
Its usable. Although becareful adding to an established tank. could contain ammonia or nitrites. Even if you use that stuff for the bulk of your substrate. Be sure to seed with live sand from an established reef tank or order a detritivore kit. www.ipsf.com www.inlandaquatics.com. Good LR will also help seed the substrate. Link to comment
printerdown01
Bump. This stuff has the bacteria needed for an aquarium substrate, but will lack worms and other sand stirrers to keep the sand fresh and healthy. It is a step up from dry sand, but not quite ocean grade stuff. To add worms and critters, you can also add the "gunk" from the bottom of a LR holding tank. I'm sure your LFS will let you suck the "gunk" from the bottom of their LR tanks. ONLY do this if you are starting a tank. Do not add the stuff from the bottom of a LR tank to an established aquarium! This stuff is filled with bacteria as well as worms, pods, coralline algae scrapings, tiny snails, ect. Link to comment
