chipmaker Posted July 27, 2005 Share Posted July 27, 2005 We just setup a 2 gal pico yesterday with Fiji LR, and a fewe polyps and shrooms.......This morning we found a very small 6 legged starfish, with wat appears to be little bristles or spines on it.Its white with dark bands of a marrone or dark brown, 6 legs/arms and is perhaps 1 1/2" across from arm tip to arm tip. Is this an acceptable critter to have in this all polyp / shroom pico that has one small 1" long algae eating type of snail or does it need to go? Any clues as to what kind of star it may be? Caesar777 Posted July 27, 2005 Share Posted July 27, 2005 Mini serpent/brittle star. They're like a regular one, but you can tell by the classic 6 legs. (The larger ones have 5.) Same requirements as the larger ones: basically nothing. They eat detritus--poo, leftover food, dead matter, etc. Link to comment
chipmaker Posted July 27, 2005 Author Share Posted July 27, 2005 Since I do not have anay fish will it survive on just whats put off by shrooms and zoo's and one little snail or is it going to starve? Don't really want to start to have to feed anything, and the snail is strictly supposed to be an algae eater...... Thanks for Identifying this critter for me.... Link to comment
Caesar777 Posted July 27, 2005 Share Posted July 27, 2005 No problem. You could just add a pellet of fish food into the tank every few days. Do it in the evening, since he's nocturnal, and he'll search around and find it. Doesn't need much. Link to comment
