sauer
For my 20 gal, I plan on using 2 maxijet 400's; one with sponge filter. For cycling the tank, what is the minimum amount of live rock needed? And do I need live sand in the beginning or can I wait. also, do I have to start with specialty bulbs or for the time being can I use something like GE sunshine bulbs on a home depot dual strip light. Thanks Link to comment
sauer
also, if I need to start with live sand, how much will I need. and will a 50watt ebo jager be enough for heating? Link to comment
Pikelet
20lbs of live rock minimum 3" sandbed minimum 100W heater minimum Link to comment
sauer
Ok, I've decided on a 10 gal for my first nano. Setup: 1 Maxijet 400 (or should I use two?) 50 watt Ebo jager heater Instant Ocean Sea Salt Dual Strip Light (Going to use until I can afford better) Is any of the "live sand in a bag" types any good? Is there one that is better than others? If I get live sand from my LFS, can I put normal sand in then put a little bit of live sand to seed it? I've seen contradicting opinions - when starting a tank, do I add cured LR or uncured. Also, this seems like a dumb question, but if I have a tank of live rock and live sand, do I have to put something into the tank to create ammonia to feed them? thank you Link to comment
static69static
1 lb of live rock per gallon 1.5lb - 2lb of sand per gallon using live rock and live sand with help with filtering. Link to comment
