SeaFish
if i keep my actinic on all night would that be good for the tank? its an 18 watt actinic for a 12 gallon tank. what do you all think? Link to comment
englishreefer
i would just like to bring this thread back to peoples attention, i would also like to know what effect leaving them on 24/7 would do. Link to comment
tinyreef
english diggin' out the old threads! the english meister! for some animals i have to figure that the 24/7 light can screw up their internal bio-clock. i ran my sump 24/7 actinic for around four years but i didn't have any vertebrates in there tho, only snails and hermits. the algae growth was ok but not gangbusters imo. about a month ago i stopped the 24/7 (the occasional brain fart that whimsically hits me now and then, usually as a prelude to a controlled tank crash X) ). the only thing i've noticed was a receding of the coralline and scale, very slight tho. it could be a consequence of letting the pH dip nightly (i.e. no RDP anymore) or it could be coincidence of me finally doing some wc's. (had some issues from marine shrimp packed in #### to take care of X) ) i don't think it would hurt the inverts to leave the actinics on 24/7. it may mess with the fishies tho. : Link to comment
