Auryn Posted June 17, 2005 Share Posted June 17, 2005 i dont have an idea of what this could be i saw it walking between the glass and a pice of rock it was walking with half its legs on the glass and half on the rock majorly weird looking and pretty much bigger than any pod ive ever seen before got any ideas? formerly icyuodd/icyoud2 Posted June 17, 2005 Share Posted June 17, 2005 i think its either a Acropora bug-harmless stenothoid amphipod, found on Acropora. or a harpacticoid copepod which is a coral parasite. i think amphipods have 2 eyes while the copepod has 1. hth leigh Link to comment

The tubes...can't remember the name, but they're tiny tubeworms (calcareous tubes, look closely and you can see their feathery feeding apparatus) and they're just harmless filter-feeders as well. When you look real close, do they have little feathers sticking out the end? Congrats, you got yourself some spirorbid worms. These little guys live in their calcareous shells and filter feed.
