Changing Filter Media???? Help

I've noticed in the past few weeks that the filter media in the Tetra filter, which hangs on the back of my nano reef, is for a better word, "Clogging Up!"

 

My question, since I know there's much needed good bacteria growing in there, can it be removed and washed or replaced? Would it be possible to do it in steps, remove one filter cartridge and then another at a later date?

 

The tank itself has a lot of beneficial bacteria within it, but I'm not sure what damage I would be doing to the bacteria content within the aquarium. Thanks!

Ditch it. If you would likek to use another, go for it. However, from the looks of your website - there is little to no bio load which means, no detrius or loose food floating around.

 

You wont hurt anything, but if you leave it in too long - it will start building up ammonia and nitrates.
