SeanCallan
Anyone done this? Was it hard? I was thinking about drilling through the back (which I believe is glass) and connecting a skimmer. Link to comment
ParaDiddle
I've done it. I used diamond tipped dremel bits. It takes a while, be patient, but there's virtually no chance of cracking it. The bits remove such tiny dust particles of glass, you are basically just grinding your way through it. Personally, I liked using the round ball-like bits to start the circle, overwriting the marker I used to draw the circle. Then I continued to use a smaller ball-like bit to get about 1/2-2/3 through the glass. I just kept following the circle with that bit. Then I used a straight or tapered bit to cut around the thinned out circle. Piece of cake. I just kept a spray bottle next to me and sprayed the glass often to keep it cool.
