my very 1st 24G NC

hi all,

 

i've been reading up on the mods done on the NC for quite a few months now.

finally i got my hands on the 24G DX that was launched at aquarama 2005.

this is my 1st attempt in diy lights so pls forgive the amatuerish look

 

ok here's how it looks

 

4x36w PL

 

all four tubes on

 

 

with the moonlight LEDs on.

 

 

stupid thing is that the lights and moonlights are sharing the same power cable and the LEDs will only come on when you off the PL lights.

so if i were to use a light timer, the moonlights will be obsolete.

 

so i added my own moonlight, 3 LEDs on a small plastic disc between the 1st 2 tubes

 

 

 

have not setup the tank with water yet. will do so in the next couple of weeks. also need to monitor temp levels in case i need to add another couple of fans into the hood.

so now tell me, what can i keep with 144W of PL??

Looks good. And as far as I know only the 05 version had the splash guard that went all the way back like the new 12GDX. So I think it is the 05 model.

Nice job. Is the 2nd bulb (purple) a relux actinic blue? Do you have the two stock fans in it? If you end up having heat issues I would replace the stock fans first. Anyways you should be able to keep anything except SPS and clams. You might be able to get away with a staghorn (Bali Slimer) or Montipora up high in the tank. Everything else will thrive granted good water conditions.

What's the typical ambient there? Might worry about the tank temps...
