jackdp
I'm in the process of making a hood for my 20gal long tank. It is 12 inches deep. I am probably going to go with a 2x55 watt PC setup. Is this a good amount of light for a 12" deep 30" long tank. Also, how high over the open water would I want to keep the lights? thx for any info. Link to comment
Dave ESPI
3-6 inches. Make sure to use a coverglass. Salt creep is a bieach. Link to comment
adinsxq
depends on what you want to keep. just fyi, 65w PC bulbs are the same length as 55w'ers yah and what dave said Link to comment
jackdp
any opinions on what is better for coverglass...real glass or plexi/lexan? I just want to get it right the first time around. Link to comment
kimura
I would try reall glass IF you don't have a center brace. I have a used both acrylic and lexan, both of them bow in the center. I personally like my tops not to bow. Link to comment
Alexis
If you use real glass, get tempered glass so it won't break from the heat. I think it is ok with PC's but with MH they will crack the glass Link to comment
