There's a couple of genera that use the common name of plate coral. If your coral has tiny, 1-1.5" tenticles, it's a Fungia sp. If it has longer, larger tentacles with knobbed tips, it's a Heliofungia actiniformis. Heliofungias kinda look like anemones when fully expanded from its base.

wall as you can see it has tenicals but the coral itself is maybe only 3/4" diameter. So they're no where near the size you mention. So which is it? Plate or fungia
